United Way LU

United Way of Jackson County is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health.  These are the building blocks for a good life - where children can reach their full potential, families and individuals are stable and independent financially, and people have good health.  United Way is an active community organizer working toward long-lasting change that prevents problems from happening in the first place.

United Way of Jackson County activities in our community operate on many levels.  The Meth Task Force had its origins in Building a Learning  Community when Hank Collins, County Public Health Director, shared that methamphetamine addiction had reached epidemic proportions.  The task force is a community-wide collaboration working to reduce methamphetamine use and the social and economic impact it has on Jackson County by: promoting public awareness, treatment, recovery, family stability, prevention, and public safety. The Southern Oregon Meth Project is part of that effort.

United Way is at the table, often leading the way in efforts like the 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, the Breaking the Cycle of Poverty initiative and efforts to solve transportation problems; essential issues that have the potential to make changes that last in our community.

Along with community initiatives United Way works to help provide financial stability to programs working to create good health, education so children can reach their potential, and financial stability and independence.  None of us can do this work alone, we need all our partners and you to help us!
