by Jan Taylor last modified 2010-03-09 23:31

Women Living Leadership: Give. Advocate. Volunteer. The mission of WiLL is to improve women and children’s lives by mobilizing the caring power of women.

WiLL capitalizes on the strength of women as philanthropists, advocates and volunteers.  It offers the opportunity to step forward and use heart, head and hands engendering change and making investments at critical transition points where systems fail and life keeps moving.

I believe that WiLL is the fire and passion that many of us have been searching for – a way to effect lasting change for women transitioning to a better life.  It’s a real joy for me to see the concept take root and bloom so quickly.

WiLL works to identify gaps in critical services to women and children in our community and then encourages agencies to work together to develop programs that address those gaps. New and innovative thinking is encouraged and those programs that demonstrate the ability to partner with existing programs to provide new solutions are given the opportunity to apply for funds to carry out their new programs.

Launched at an inaugural event in the fall of 2006 with the support of 135 community women raising $37,000 with a five year total of $145,000.  By the fall of 2007, the WiLL luncheon event, supported by nearly 200 women,  raised over $44,000 with a five year total of $146,000.  The number of programs grew from four to seven.
