Grant awards to arts organizations in Jackson and Josephine County

 

The United Arts Fund is proud to announce the awarding of grants totaling over $4700 to arts organizations in Jackson and Josephine Counties. They are the Grants Pass Museum of Art, Illinois River Valley Arts Council, the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, the Rogue Valley Symphony Association, Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon and the Arts Council of Southern Oregon. 

 

The United Arts Fund is a program of the United Way of Jackson County, administered by the Arts Council of Southern Oregon, designed to raise funds for the operation of arts education programs for young people by non-profit arts organizations in Jackson and Josephine Counties. The United Way of Jackson County raised $5,597.47 for the United Arts Fund during its annual workplace giving campaign last fall. 

 

Grants Pass Museum of Art                         

$500

The Grants Pass Museum of Art youth education program comprises five elements: a high school internship program, Children's Summer Workshop, school tours of the museum, an outreach program at Gladiola High School focused on teaching school year book publication skills, and an art library with over 700 volumes available for public use.

 

Illinois Valley River Arts Council

The Learning Through Arts Program at Illinois River Valley Arts Council provides art and cultural experiences for young people in the Illinois Valley through its middle school Jazz Music Project and by bringing artists into classrooms.

 

Rogue Gallery and Arts Center

$1000

The Rogue Gallery Youth Education Program consists of three major programs: Drop in & Draw After School Art Program, which is a program that provides art instruction for school aged children on Medford's public school early release day; the Artist Teen Mentoring project, an annual program which pairs teens with professional artists to learn a new medium and create artwork in a mentoring atmosphere; and Kid's Summer Art Camps, four day art intensives in a variety of mediums, for 6 to 18 year olds.

 

Rogue Valley Symphony Association          

$500

The Rogue Valley Symphony has four education programs serving 12,000 students and their families in Jackson and Josephine Counties, including the Discovery Concert, Chamber Players in the Classroom, A Day of Music, and Connecting With the Classics.

 

Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon            $1000

The Youth Symphony provides the region's young brass, woodwind, string and percussion musicians with opportunities to learn about and perform a wide range of classical music for orchestra and chamber ensembles under the direction and leadership of professional conductors, music educators and professional musicians, and to present high-quality accessible public concerts in professional venues and community settings throughout the Rogue Valley.

 

Arts Council of Southern Oregon                 $1400

The Arts Council received $560 to help with the costs of administering the United Arts Fund.  It also received $840 to help support the Arts Council’s arts education program for young people which include the Artists in the Schools residency program and the Lithia Springs Music Program
